Ben Overturf Trail

Published by Crew Advisor on

On a beautiful early December day, Crew 147 joined members of Troop 147 on a hike above Monrovia on the Ben Overturf trail. The trail was steep in places and was criss-crossed by Monrovia’s original iron water main. It’s hard to imagine how they hauled those heavy segments of pipe up the steep mountainside more than a hundred years ago. We also visited the ruins of the Overturf family’s lodge that was a popular hiking destination back in the 1920s.
